The Agafay desert in Morocco is a landscape of traditional Berber villages and spectacular mountain landscapes, but its remote location makes exploration difficult. On this tour, start with a transfer from your hotel in Marrakech and cross the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains with your guide. Savor a traditional mint tea and a 3-course lunch in a Berber house, and take a traditional sandy course on a camel safari.

What to Expect

Itinerary

Your driver and your guide will pick you up at 9:00. The day trip from Marrakech to the desert of Agafay will allow you to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside, Lake Takerkoust and the desert of Agafay. The route is shaded by lush vegetation, orchards of olive and orange trees and through the village of Ait Imour from where we will leave the road to cross a completely different landscape with a desert of stones, brown trays clear, a Bedouin village, and hilly oasis with panoramic views of the High Atlas. A few hours later, small green spots will appear and shortly after you will be back on the paved road lined with old eucalyptus trees. You will arrive at the lake Lalla Takerkoust built to be a dam, the latter provides Marrakech electricity. Crossing small hills along the dam, you will arrive at the Nfis Valley dotted with Berber villages before arriving in a Berber family house. You can visit the house and have lunch inside. After lunch, you will make your way to ASNI through the forest, the traditional salt pans before arriving at IMLIL, a small town (market on Saturday) overlooking Toubkal, the highest mountain
